My dearest friends, fans, and family, (and the cute girl in the back; 'hi there')
For the last few years we devoted a big part of our lives to the band that was meant to change the world. And frankly, we changed quite a few things: we destroyed backstage rooms, wrecked (at least a few) marriages, annihilated the opposition, killed the critics, kidnapped the haters, clubbed baby seals, and more importantly; we brought world peace upon Eindhoven.
It was the moment when we were sitting around the table with our manager, financial advisors and label that it struck us: Is this all we ever wanted? Although we signed with Sony and were planning a tour in Japan, we were still not really content with our situation. And we were wondering… When will the threesomes get boring? At what moment will I stop enjoying the company of a mother, her daughter and a Bengalese tiger? Is this what makes us men? Is this what they call a fulfilling life?
Nein, nein, und nochmal: Nein.
We want to go back to our roots. Play some good old-fashioned shows in small venues. Not getting paid. No massive girl on girl action in the showers afterwards. Just the music…and us. The ultimate bromance! And so, we called our label and told them that they could stick it where the sun don't shine, and here we are: millions spent, nothing left. This is the real life of a rock star.
Jelle will learn how to communicate with proper people, Job gets a kid, Thijs will try to build up a new Rock Star Empire (from scrap, so hardcore), Paul will be a fulltime (broke) philosopher, and Koen will continue whatever he was doing.
It was awesome, you were awesome, and we are awesome.
Thanks anyway.
